Training in Children's Ministry


A variety of training is possible in parish, based on local needs. Sessions can be arranged tailored to the needs of the church. Contact our Children and Families Worker, Louise Warner, to discuss what might be best for you.

Past examples have included training in using the Bible with children, creative prayer, thinking about discipleship, all age worship, behaviour, Messy Church.

There will be a children's ministry course starting in the autumn 2019; details are being finalised so check back here soon for details.


There are a number of colleges that offer training linked to children and families work, including Cliff College, Calver, which offers part-time courses in Children's Ministry and Family Ministry in partnership with Methodist Learning Partnership and BRF at a variety of levels including certificate, Diploma, BA and beyond. It also offers a range of other subject areas and short courses, including an annual summer school.

CYM has a range of courses.

Moorlands has a centre in Birmingham offering a range of courses including some at BA and MA level plus a number of short courses.
