From the young starting out on their journey of discipleship, to a reawakening of faith much later in life, the stories shared within our parishes as people come to confirmation are both joyful and inspiring.
A wonderful number of candidates, across the beautiful diversity of the diocese, were confirmed by our bishops during May and June 2026.
Bishop Saju visited Holy Trinity Church in Hinckley early in May to confirm Margaret.
Speaking in her testimony, she said: “My neighbours befriended me and invited me to church. Everyone was very welcoming - I felt enclosed with care and included in the community.
“Coming to Holy Trinity reawakened my faith; I turned to God for comfort and trust Jesus as my Saviour. I feel a compulsion to be confirmed, as a sign of my commitment to God, even at the age of 88.”
During the middle of May, Bishop Christopher joined the congregation of St Nicholas Church in Leicester for a service of celebration and the confirmations of Charlotte, Izzy, Nicholas (Omid), Ben (Benham), Phillip, Jack and Alex (Mohammad).
Bishop Martyn enjoyed a sunny, Sunday service of confirmation at Leicester Cathedral on 17 May, with seven people making their commitment from the cathedral and the churches of St James the Greater Leicester and St Peter’s, Swepstone.
Those confirmed included Julian, Kevin, Charlene and Kim.
Teenager Lottie was confirmed by Bishop Saju during a celebratory service at St Denys Church in Evington on 10 May.
Lottie was involved with planning the service, choosing prayers and worship songs that meant something to her, and declaring her faith story to family, friends and the church community.
Bishop Martyn was delighted to confirm Badhal, Pathakota and Indh, during a service of confirmation with communion at The Church of the Resurrection, Belgrave, on 24 May.
Later in June, on yet another pleasant Sunday, two people - including Laura - were confirmed by Bishop Martyn during a service at St Simon and St Jude Church in Earl Shilton.
On 21 June, Bishop Saju joined the congregation of St Nicholas Church in Leicester for a service of communion and confirmed Benham, Hossein and Anthony (Ashkan).
And finally, a group of nine were confirmed by Bishop Luke during a service at St Aidan’s Church in New Parks, also on 21 June.
Surrounded by friends and family, those making their commitments were Darryl, Miguel, Prince Sherwin, Ashleigh, Lakeisha, Micah, Abigail, Princes Shanelle and Cynnika.
