Launch of the Windmill Missional Community

On Sunday 10th February, about 90 people of all ages gathered at Bottesford Chapel to see Bishop Martyn launch the Windmill Missional Community as a lay led BMO (Bishop’s Mission Order). Windmill is a contemporary fresh expression of Church, and in keeping with the Windmill ethos, despite a number of formal promises and declarations being made, the gathering was informal and relaxed.  Laura Marsh and Glenda Gibson were licensed as Pioneer ministers, the Bishop’s Mission Order was signed with Laura and Glenda as its leaders, and four members of the Windmill Community were baptised.  It was a glorious afternoon of celebrating new life in the Kingdom of God with the sharing of testimonies, praying with playdough, and  confetti and banners being flown.  The Windmill community affirmed their faith and their commitment to being a Bishop’s Mission Order within the diocese of Leicester.  One community member wrote, “Such an amazing day. Full of excitement, expectation, awe inspiring moments and feeling of security, togetherness, faithfulness and a deep sense of spirituality.  God was with us all every minute of the service.”  Following the service the celebrations continued with afternoon tea.  The newly authorised leaders Laura and Glenda are excited as to where God is leading Windmill next and they look forward to working with other local churches to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
