LEGO church at St Peter’s, Bardon

The Benefice of Coalville with Bardon and Ravenstone have just begun a LEGO church at St Peter’s, Bardon after a Tier 1 grant from the Growth Fund.

Gill Pinnington explains: ‘We really needed something which would help us to encourage young families to come who have never been to church before or who found the traditional services difficult to sit through. This was not about just getting more numbers into church but about everyone learning to be a church family by working together and sharing our faith as we build and learn Bible stories together.’

A quote from a church member on Facebook: “This morning Revd Gill Pinnington introduced us to the exciting world of Lego Church. From what sounded like a difficult topic, The Transfiguration, some amazing scenes were built. Fun was had by all.”

Conversations around each table were also interesting as many people were chatting not just about the Bible story but also about things they would do the next week.

After Easter the team will start another Lego church group at ‘The Pavilion’ sportsfield in Ravenstone. This will be an after-school church. They hope to attract families from the immediate housing estate most of whom do not attend any other church.

Please pray for:

  • That the two new groups would become established and strong, caring for each other.
  • That new leaders would be raised up from the communities in which the team work.
  • That though Lego Church, many will become disciples of Jesus.
