Liz Rawlings appointed as new Discipleship and Vocations Enabler

The Bishop of Leicester is pleased to announce the appointment of the Hope Hamilton Vicar, the Revd Liz Rawlings, as the new Discipleship and Vocations Enabler.

The date of Liz’s licensing will be announced in due course but she is likely to take up her new role in November after ceasing her current roles as Minister of The Conventional District of Hamilton and Area Dean of the City of Leicester Deanery.

Liz has a heart for helping people to respond to God’s call on their life and said: “I am really looking forward to meeting people across the diocese and exploring how we can encourage each other to deepen our faith.

“I am eager to engage with people and helping others to ask one another about what God might be encouraging them to do and what the next step might be for them.

“I bring to this role experience of developing a Rule of Life in a local congregation to enable each of us to embed our faith into the everyday stuff of life.”

Building on work begun by Mads Morgan, Liz will work with both individuals and communities, who will enable parishes and fresh expressions of Church to develop people in their Christian journey.

Bishop Martyn said: “It’s great news that Liz will be helping us to enable the growth of discipleship and lay vocations in the Diocese of Leicester.

“We want to be able to stimulate growth in the number of disciples, depth of discipleship and loving service of the world; encouraging our diverse churches to be disciple-making communities and producing resources to help them in developing their Everyday Faith.”

Stuart Burns, Director of Mission and Ministry for the diocese said: “I am delighted to welcome such a creative and talented person to the team. We are excited about working with Liz who will be involved in all areas of Church life, building up the body of Christ in Church and society across Leicestershire.”
