Saturday 12th October 2019 Called Together Service
A licencing service that celebrates Lay Ministry. Please join us at 11am at Leicester Cathedral to support those being licensed for the first time and those renewing their existing licenses. We will be joined by the team and novices from the Community of the Tree of Life. No need to book a place. You will need to be seated by 10.45am. The service is followed by refreshments at St Martins House.

Prisons Week 2019 runs from 13-19 October. You can find resources on the link below. Various services and events will take place around the diocese including: Worship on Prisons Sunday at 6 pm at St Paul’s and St Augustine’s Worship Centre Fosse Road / Glenfield Road, LE3 6DA. Speaker Revd Jill Willet, Free Church Chaplain at Leicester Prison. Churches Together in Harborough will hold a joint service with guest speaker the Anglican Chaplain from HMP Gartree, Revd Emma Higgins, at 4pm at the Methodist Church, in Market Harborough.

It is Anti Slavery Day on 18 October and Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Modern-day Slavery Action Group (LLRMSAG) intensification week from 14-19 October. Tuesday 22nd October 2019 Church Building Team Surgery
The Church Buildings Team will be holding a surgery between 11am and 4pm at All Saints Church Centre, Thorpe Acre, Loughborough, LE11 4LF. This is an opportunity for clergy and/or parish representatives to discuss any church building related matter with the members of the Church Buildings Team.  Service of Hope & Remembrance (Hate Crime Awareness Week)
The Dean and Chapter of Leicester Cathedral, Leicestershire Police and The Office of The Police and Crime Commissioner warmly invite you to attend A Service of Hope and Remembrance at 5.30pm at Leicester Cathedral to mark National Hate Crime Awareness Week. Saturday 26th October 2019 Safeguarding Coordinators Conference Mental Health Awareness
From 9:30am - 4:00pm Refreshments and registration 9.30am onwards for a 10am start. St Martins House, 7 Peacock Lane, Leicester, LE1 5PZ. This year the Safeguarding Coordinators conference is on mental health awareness. If you are a safeguarding coordinator this course is for you. It will provide you with updates relevant for your role, opportunities to network and participate in a workshop. There are four workshops to choose from. We have two guest speakers this year: Bob Edge, a Forensic Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Professional. Bob was brought up an Episcopalian in Glasgow and studied Religious Studies and History at Stirling University. He moved to England in the late 1980s. Bob worked with homeless people and then studied at Leicester University, qualifying with an MA in Social Work in 1993. Bob currently works at the Herschel Prins Centre in Leicester where he undertakes casework and carries out Mental Health Act assessments. Dr Jacqueline Parkes, Professor in Applied Mental Health University of Northampton. Jacqueline has vast experience in the area of mental health which she has demonstrated in various ways through research projects and work at the University.
