This year the Safeguarding Coordinators conference is on mental health awareness. If you are a safeguarding coordinator this course is for you. It will provide you with updates relevant for your role, opportunities to network and participate in a workshop. There are four workshops to choose from.

We have two guest speakers this year:

Bob Edge, a Forensic Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Professional. Bob was brought up an Episcopalian in Glasgow and studied Religious Studies and History at Stirling University. He moved to England in the late 1980s. Bob worked with homeless people and then studied at Leicester University, qualifying with an MA in Social Work in 1993. Bob currently works at the Herschel Prins Centre in Leicester where he undertakes casework and carries out Mental Health Act assessments.

Dr Jacqueline Parkes, Professor in Applied Mental Health University of Northampton. Jacqueline has vast experience in the area of mental health which she has demonstrated in various ways through research projects and work at the University.

•Mental Health Awareness and Spirituality – Led by Bob Edge, Forensic Social Worker and Mental Health Professional
•New to the Coordinator’s role – Led by Peter Holloway, Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser
•I am me: Does the mental capacity Act help or hinder? Dr Jacqueline Parkes, Professor in Applied Mental Health University of Northampton
