The Bishop announces the death of The Revd Canon Dr John Armson, aged 80, on Sunday 12 April 2020. John grew up in Leicestershire and was ordained in 1967, serving his curacy in Notting Hill, London. He became Chaplain of Downing College, Cambridge from 1969-1973. He became Chaplain at Westcott House, Cambridge in 1973, and then Vice Principal from 1976-1982. In 1982, John was appointed as Principal of Edinburgh Theological College, before serving as a Residentiary Canon at Rochester Cathedral from 1989. He was a member of the ecumenical Hengrave Community from 2001-2003. John retired in 2001 and held the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate, firstly in Hereford and then in Leicester from 2014 until 2019.
