It is with great sadness that the Bishop announces the death of The Revd Canon Helen Newman.
Helen was most recently Chaplain to Launde Abbey, from 2017 until 2021, where her husband, David, was
also Warden. Helen held a number of other roles in the diocese prior to this, including Diocesan Director of
Ordinands, and Chaplain to Loros. She was also heavily involved in work to support clergy wellbeing.
Helen’s funeral service will take place at 12 noon on Friday 13 January 2023, at Emmanuel Church,
Loughborough. The service will be led by the former Dean of Leicester, The Very Revd David Monteith, and
the Bishop of Crediton will be preaching. All are welcome to attend
