It is with sadness that we announce the death of The Revd Canon Zolile Mbali, aged 84, on Tuesday 15 April 2025.
Zolile was ordained in South Africa in 1971 and ministered there for 10 years until moving to Britian and served as Vicar in a local parish in Durham.
Zolile moved to Leicester in 1984, where he served as Assistant Priest at St Mary’s with Guthlac’s from 1984 – 1988, Priest in Charge at Church Langton and Stonton Wyville from 1988 and Assistant Priest at St Deny’s Evington until 1993. During this time Zolile was also the Community and Race Relations Advisor in the Diocese.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte, their children and extended family.
Revd Mbali’s funeral is to be held at St Mary the Virgin church in Ashford (Kent) on Wednesday 7 May 11.30am. The service will be live streamed and any who wish to join please contact the Bishop of Leicester’s office (bishops.office@leicestercofe.org) for details.
