We are pleased to announce that The Revd Christopher Johnson is to be seconded to the position of Assistant Archdeacon while remaining Associate Vicar in the Wigston Benefice.
Christopher is stepping down as Assistant Area Dean of Gartree Deanery to give 1.5 days per week to the role of Assistant Archdeacon, during the period of Archdeacon Richard’s forthcoming sabbatical (January – March 2024).
Christopher will be assisting Archdeacon Claire, together with existing Assistant Archdeacons Richard Trethewey and Kim Ford, in the Archdeacons’ work across the Diocese, particularly in the area of church buildings.
We are sincerely thankful to Christopher for his willingness to undertake this role for the period up to April 2024, and for this work as Assistant Area Dean.
We also express our thanks to the churches of St. Thomas, South Wigston and All Saints, Wigston for their willingness to support Christopher in this role.
The Venerable Claire Wood, Archdeacon of Loughborough, will be licenced to exercise any archidiaconal function within the Archdeaconry of Leicester, during the period of Archdeacon Richard’s sabbatical.
Christopher and Claire will be licensed by The Bishop of Leicester on Wednesday 6 December 2023 at Bishop’s Lodge.
