Thanks to everyone who has helped to make Leicestershire Ride+Stride 2020 a reality!
- Nearly 300 churches are taking part in Ride+Stride on Saturday 12 September – please see the List of Churches which is downloadable here https://www.lhct.org.uk/ride-and-stride/
- We hear of lots of people and groups taking part to raise funds for their church and for the Trust – some raising funds through the Trust’s JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/l-h-c-t. If you would like to support the Trust for its grants programme in 2021, please see Janet and Gordon Arthur’s Ride+Stride fundraising page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gandjarthur
- We are very grateful for sponsorship from regional property firm Andrew Granger & Co.
Among those taking part are Colette and Nigel Stein of Goadby Marwood who will be setting off on their tandem at 10.00am sharp for Leicestershire Ride+Stride on Saturday 12 September. They plan to visit all seven churches in the locality – a distance of 15-17 miles – whilst raising vital money for St Denys Church, Goadby Marwood, and the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust as part of the national event. All seven churches will be open – in the attractive rural villages of Chadwell, Eastwell, Eaton, Goadby Marwood, Scalford, Stonesby and Waltham on the Wolds in north-east Leicestershire.
People of all ages from each church are taking part in small groups and Colette says: “Ride+Stride is the first community event for many months that we can all enjoy, within the necessary Covid-19 restrictions. We are all looking forward to seeing each other out and about visiting our local churches and taking healthy exercise in beautiful countryside”.
Colette and Nigel are raising funds for a major project to replace the roofs of St Denys church, Goadby Marwood, following lead theft. Half the money they raise will go to the project, and half to the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust. The Trust has contributed to the roof repair at St Denys as part of its £30,000 grants programme in 2020, and the Trust’s half-share of funds raised through Ride+Stride this year will go towards its grants programme in 2021.
