SING CHRISTMAS is the region's biggest Christmas sing-along. It’s an interactive carol concert organised by BBC Radio Leicester, the Diocese of Leicester and Churches Together in Leicestershire.
Thousands gather each year in local pubs, clubs, community centres, and care homes. They connect with each other simultaneously through a BBC Radio Leicester broadcast, singing their hearts out in celebration of the real meaning of Christmas.
This year Sing Christmas is on Monday 23rd December between 7and 8pm. The Leicester Cathedral Choristers are joined by other county choirs in St Martin’s House, Leicester, to belt out 11 well-known carols, accompanied by Wigston Brass Ensemble. Through the broadcast, they’re joined by people all over Leicestershire, Rutland, and even further afield!
All the venues taking part can interact with the live programme using social media. The presenters of Sing Christmas this year are Jimmy Carpenter and Summaya Mughal, the new BBC Radio Leicester Drive-time presenters.
Your church could take part too. Perhaps you could approach your local pub, community centre or care home and partner with them. Or you could just hold the event in your church or church hall as a venue for Sing Christmas.
You can register, and find out more, on the Sing Christmas website… www.singchristmas.org.uk.
From Ab Kettleby and Anstey to Whitwick and Wigston, Sing Christmas has the power to connect us all together this Christmas.
