All DCC/PCC Secretaries should have received an email on Tuesday morning asking them to check that the list of PCC Officers that we have on the Database is correct and up-to-date following this year's APCMs.
Following a recent consultation, the relevant government department (DCMS) has announced that it intends to lay a Statutory Instrument before parliament in early 2021 which if passed will extend the current exception for PCCs with annual income below £100k by another ten years\
Despite everything that this year has thrown at the country the 31st Leicestershire Ride+Stride fundraising event went ahead on 12 September and proved ever popular raising an unexpected amount of money.

On Saturday 14 November we are inviting people from across the diocese to a further opportunity to join in to the process of Shaped by God Together. It is an opportunity to be reading the stories that have been shared and seeking insights from them together. This is an open invitation - book into the hour long slot that is of interest to you and come to listen and learn together. But this isn't your only chance to take part...
DCC/PCC Secretaries – or Parish Clergy where we know of vacancies as D/PCC Secretaries – will be sent an email in mid or late-November about how to do this. It will give the list of parish officers currently on the Diocesan Database and ask for their details to be checked and updated as appropriate. N.B. Please don't complete one of the forms that used to be sent out but wait for the email to be sent to you in November with new instructions.

The General Synod elections which were due to be held in 2020 have been postponed until 2021 because of the pandemic. Nonetheless there is currently a by-election taking place following the resignation of Jonathan Cryer who has been one of the three diocesan lay representatives on General Synod for the last five years. The person elected will have the chance to attend two meetings of General Synod (November 2020 and July 2021) before the main elections take place in the autumn of 2021.
Ride+Stride on Saturday 12th September took place in perfect weather with people all over Leicester and Leicestershire registering at nearly 300 churches and chapels, travelling around by bike or on foot, and with at least two people on horseback.
Bishop John Smilie will be retiring in February 2021 and the Diocese of Wyoming is currently in the process of selecting their next Bishop. The three candidates have been travelling around Wyoming to meet as many people as possible. The Diocesan Convention, held on 19th September, will then elect their next bishop.
