On Tuesday, April 12, Bishop Saju had a day of Abrahamic interfaith activity. Having parked at St Peter’s Highfields, and called in to greet the congregation, as well as see Leicester Community Radio in action, he then went to visit Leicester Hebrew Congregation. As well as a tour of the Synagogue, Bishop Saju saw the new heritage centre and talked with members of the congregation about the long history of Jewish presence in the city.
Did you know that the fountain in town hall square was donated by a Jewish Mayor of Leicester, Israel Hart?
In the evening, Bishop Saju joined other invited guests at Oadby and Wigston Muslim association for an iftar, the breaking of the fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet friends and colleagues from across the faith communities.
