Bishops Martyn and Guli have responded to the tragic attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand by writing a letter expressing their sadness and reassurances of support to the Muslim Community

An evening spent thinking about Inter Cultural Worship Communities attracted representatives of 17 churches from the Diocese, all of whom had previously expressed an interest in exploring BAME (black and minority ethnic) ministry.

With so many ways to worship, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to expressing our faith around the Diocese of Leicester. There are countless churches offering an array of styles and services – and there’s nothing stopping us from seeking out new and inspiring opportunities to praise the Lord, our God.

Before Lent began there was fun to be had around Shrove Tuesday with pancake parties and antics across the Diocese. On the Thurnby Lodge estate, hundreds of pancakes were devoured during a party hosted by Christ Church.

Celebrations were underway in rural Leicestershire when six people were confirmed or received into the Church of England at a special service with Bishop Guli at St Mary’s Church, Barwell.

People who are vulnerable, socially isolated or who experience homelessness are to benefit from the Bishop of Leicester’s 2019 Lent Appeal.

On Sunday 10th February, about 90 people of all ages gathered at Bottesford Chapel to see Bishop Martyn launch the Windmill Missional Community as a lay led BMO (Bishop’s Mission Order).

Members of the Community of the Tree of Life have sought God’s blessing at a Promise Service led by the Bishop of Leicester as they begin placements around the city and county.

Bishop Guli has led a special service at which the Church of England launched a Persian language translation of Holy Communion to help growing numbers of Iranians who are learning English in Anglican congregations.
