A Programme Manager appointed

Claire Bampton has been appointed Programme Manager for the Diocese of Leicester for nine months thanks to national Church of England funds.

Claire will be joining the Bishop’s Leadership Team from this week to help facilitate our Shaped By God Together process through which we will be discerning our new diocesan framework. After that, if the role is made permanent, she will then work on the implementation phase of our new approach.

Bishp Martyn said: "I’m very pleased indeed that Claire has agreed to take on the role for an initial period of nine months and also that we’ve been able to appoint someone who knows the diocese so well and that the national church have agreed to fund this role."

Claire, who had worked previously worked with Christian Aid, is familiar to many having worked for the diocese for more than the three years. She began in 2017 in our Generous Giving team and since February this year has been working as Archdeacon’s Officer.

She is also a member of the Diocesan Board of Education and has served as Lay Chair in both Akeley East and Sparkenhoe East Deaneries. Claire is well known in other roles as she enjoys volunteering in Girlguiding, running her local Rainbow unit, and is married to Ed, Rector of Groby and Ratby, and they have two children, Joshua and Rebecca.

Claire said: "I am delighted to take up this new role at such a significant time in the life of the diocese as we seek to be Shaped By God Together."
