On Sunday 16 November 2025, and over the following weeks, thousands of churches from diverse backgrounds and traditions will join together to shout about safeguarding and help protect vulnerable people.
This initiative, spearheaded by Thirtyone:eight, invites communities to come together to reflect on their safeguarding journey, and highlight all the good work that is being done to create safer places.

This year the theme of the campaign is ‘Action Speaks Louder’ – encouraging churches to not just talk about safeguarding but to take positive action towards improving safeguarding practices, learning from where they may have got things wrong; to build on the ways they are supporting those who have been hurt, and highlight all the good work being done behind the scenes to protect vulnerable people.

Towards a Safer Church: Liturgical Resources from the Church of England includes a safeguarding prayer that could be posted on a church noticeboard or be used to conclude a day of safeguarding training, to a litany of penitence for past failures. The prayers focus on wisdom, compassion, vigilance and pastoral care. View the resources here.
