There will be changes in the Diocese of Leicester’s Archdeacons’ Office from the beginning of October, until the end of the year.
The Revd Richard Trethewey, Rector in the Benefice of Glenfield and Newtown Linford, and part-time Assistant Archdeacon in the diocese, will be stepping-up into the full-time role of Acting Archdeacon of Loughborough.
Richard will provide cover for The Ven Claire Wood, Archdeacon of Loughborough, during the period of her sabbatical, from 1 October 2024 to 31 December 2024.
Richard will be licensed by the Bishop of Leicester on Monday 30 September 2024 during morning prayer at Bishop’s Lodge.
Revd Richard Trethewey, Assistant Archdeacon and soon to be Acting Archdeacon of Loughborough, said: “Having worked alongside Claire and Richard in the archdeacons’ office for the past 18 months or so, I am pleased to be able to serve the diocese by stepping-up full-time in Claire’s absence, as she takes a well-deserved sabbatical.
“Whilst I acknowledge this will be a challenge, having worked in the archdeaconry of Loughborough for nearly nine years, and been chair of the DAC for the past four, I have a certain level of familiarity with parishes and clergy and look forward to serving them further in this temporary role.”
The Archdeacon of Leicester, the Ven Richard Worsfold, said: “Richard Trethewey has become a valued and experienced member of the archdeacons’ office team over the past 18 months as Assistant Archdeacon and I am therefore delighted that Richard has agreed to take on the role of acting Archdeacon of Loughborough during Archdeacon Claire’s sabbatical.”
