Church is Changing - Everyday Faith at home

Last updated: 30 July
Keep checking back here as we journey together thropugh lockdown and various stage sof re-opening our churches. We'll try to provide more stories of creative things our churches are doing as part of living out their Everyday Faith as well as new opportunities for worship through print, radio, TV, and online following  the suspension of public worship. Here are some of the options:
Sundays at 10am. Every Sunday at 10am on our Diocese of Leicester Facebook page or our Diocese of Leicester Youtube channel there will be a short pre-recorded video from different people in our own diocese providing an opportunity to engage with the Gospel reading of the day. There will be simple prayers, a reading, a brief devotional homily accompanied by a creative interpretation of the Bible story by an artist, and a closing blessing. Just follow on Facebook or Youtube and join with others around our diocese in experiencing God’s word in a slightly different way.
RE:Thinking Aloud#EveryDayFaith conversations - Encouraging deeper reflection, noticing, and thinking, throughout the Church of England in Leicester. New episode every Thursday at 7:30 pm. Listen and subscribe. Throughout the summer period episodes will be less frequent so keep an eye on social media for updates.
Daily Offices which our Community of the Tree of Life.  These have now paused for a well-deserved break for the team in August.
Keep an eye out for details of our new monastic community's own Daily Office, which will be livestreaming on their Facebook page every week day (Mon-Fri). There will be a shortened morning, noon and night-time version from members of the Community who will provide a rich opportunity for us to punctuate our day with prayer, knowing that we’re doing so in company with other Christians from around the city and county.
Leicester Cathedral is now also livestreaming weekly services complete with wonderful music from the choir, on its Youtube account. You can watch live or see the recording afterwards by clicking here and you can read or download service sheets here.
Trichy, our Link dicoese in India, is also livestreaming from church budilings where there is still some access. They have some wonderful hymns! You can tune in here.
National CofE online service and order of service. You can also watch the national Church of England service at 9am on Sundays on the Church of England Youtube channel and their Facebook page. Alternatively, you can watch the service streamed on the Church of England website, where the service sheet for the 30 minute service as well as more information, can also be downloaded (by clicking here).
Printable prayers and worship material for home. The Church of England (CofE) has published prayers and other material for worship at home here. Daily prayers for each day can be found here to read or download (as can a link to download the free CofE Daily Prayer App for mobile devices). Kat Gibson, intercultural pioneer minister, has made these really hepful prayer cards for simple and creative ways to pray at home. Thy KIngdom Come has also produced some great Prayer Walk resources that you might like to try out at home.
BBC Radio worship broadcasts. You can tune in as the BBC broadcasts a Sunday Worship service on BBC Radio 4 each Sunday at 8.10am - See more details here. They also broadcast a Daily Worship service every weekday on BBC Radio 4 (LongWave only) at 9.45am, which you can listen to online here.
BBC One TV - Songs of Praise. Songs of Praise is still being broadcast on BBC One TV each Sunday at 1.15pm or you can watch it anytime online here.
