During the last few months our Bishops have been busy baptising and confirming candidates the diocese wide.
In June and July, many of our worshipping communities welcomed and witnessed members of their church families taking the next step on their faith journeys.
On Sunday 9 June, five young people were confirmed at St Andrew’s Church in Great Easton - part of the Six Saints Benefice.
Bishop Martyn led the service, which saw Jolyon and Francis among those making their commitment and declaration of faith.
On Sunday 16 June, Bishop Saju joined a combined congregation of the Guthlaxton Deanery in a celebratory service with Holy Communion at St Mary’s Church in Broughton Astley.
During the worship, Bishop Saju baptised Toby-Lee, and also confirmed him, together with Jeremy and Jessica.
Sharing the sacraments on the other side of the diocese, Bishop Saju was welcomed to St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Syston on Sunday 7 July for the confirmation of several candidates from the church, as well as St Mary’s Church in Barkby.
Syston’s Charlotte, Patricia, Faith and Flora were confirmed by Bishop Saju, alongside Barkby’s Eileen, Karen and Susan.
On Sunday 14 July, Bishop Saju baptised Louis and William, and confirmed Anita, Alyssa, Harmony, Ebony, Laura, Liam, Samual and William, during a service at St Helen’s Church in Ashby de la Zouch.
And finally, a host of churches came together to celebrate one baptism and 11 confirmations on Sunday 21 July at Holy Trinity Church in Barrow Upon Soar.
Barrie, Michelle, Ned, Michael, Ollie, Jacob, Kat and Malcolm were among those making their declarations of faith, from Holy Trinity Church, St Mary in Wymeswold, Christ Church Mountsorrel, St Edward King & Martyr in Castle Donington, and St Mary in Charnwood, Nanpantan.
Please pray for all those newly baptised and confirmed in our diocese, and for the clergy and lay leaders who prepared them and continue to guide them in their discipleship.
