Diocesan Women’s Ministry Group Hosts Its First Gathering

Twenty-five women from various ministries across the diocese joined the first gathering of the Diocesan Women’s Ministry Group which took place over Zoom on Monday 4 March.

There was an opportunity for everyone on the call to introduce themselves, and Revd Sue Frost, chair of the group, and the Women’s Ministry Group members, also shared why they felt called to join the group.
In smaller break-out rooms, everyone was invited to share where they were finding joy in their ministry and any prayer requests so that the group could hold them in prayer. After this was fed back to the whole group, the evening ended with prayer, led by Jill Matthews.

The places people were finding joy in their ministry ranged from the opportunity to walk alongside people in their faith journeys to building new worshipping communities and discovering new callings.

Revd Crystal McAllister, Pioneer Minister and a member of the Diocesan Women’s Ministry Group, said: “We were delighted to be joined by women in all kinds of ministries – churchwardens, lay leaders, priests, pioneers, pastoral assistants and curates – serving in all kinds of settings, from fresh expressions of Church to the Cathedral.

“It was a privilege to hear how God is calling women across our diocese in so many ways, and to be able to pray for them, and hopefully, as a group, find ways of practically supporting them too.”

The next gathering hosted by the Diocesan Women’s Ministry Group will be at St Martins House, Leicester, on Tuesday 4 June at 7pm. As well as a time to get to know other women in the diocese, there will be a time for worship, share food together, and hear from Bishop Martyn. You can register to attend here.
