Joyful Beginnings of New Ministry

The joyful beginnings of new ministry were celebrated in Loughborough earlier this month as Reverend Emily Sharman was welcomed as Rector of All Saints with Holy Trinity during a service of institution and induction.

Members of clergy from the local ministry team, archdeaconry and the wider diocese, as well as congregation members, friends, and family, gathered to support Revd Emily as she embarked upon her new ‘servant leadership’ role in this church.

During the service, the new rector was gifted with an array of the traditional symbols of ministry, alongside a selection representing All Saints’ commitment to being an inclusive church and an intercultural worshipping community.

Revd Emily said: “The welcome I received at my installation service was wonderful with the rich diversity of the church and town celebrated and sung. Bishop Martyn spoke beautifully of the power of hope and our shared responsibility to be the hope of the world. We then continued the celebration with conversation and lots of cake.”

Talking about her new role, Revd Emily added: “I am delighted to be the 40th Rector of All Saints with Holy Trinity, here in the university town of Loughborough.

“It is a joy to be part of such a vibrant inclusive and intercultural church and I look forward to connecting with the different congregations, schools, community groups and care homes over the coming weeks and months.

“It’s an exciting time as we, with our partner churches, form our Minster Community, and I look forward to joining with them in carrying the gospel in both town and country.”
