Late Summer Confirmations

Throughout August and into the beginning of September, across the Diocese of Leicester, a number of people - young and old - made a commitment to God, sharing their faith stories and celebrating with their church communities, friends, and families.

Early in August, at Hope Hamilton Church, Bishop Saju baptised and confirmed four people in a service that drew many participants from East Africa. The celebration was filled with joy, vibrant worship, and a rich spirit of intercultural unity.

Each baptism and confirmation marked a powerful step of faith, symbolising fresh beginnings in Christ. After the service, Bishop Saju spent time with the newly baptised and confirmed, listening to their inspiring faith stories and offering encouragement for the journey ahead.
It was a day that reminded everyone present of the beauty of God’s family - diverse, united, and alive with hope.

Bishop Martyn visited St Mary’s Church in Hinckley for their Patronal Festival service on Thursday 14 August, confirming Linda, James, Esther, Tom, Eddie, Cliff, Lynn and Gordon.
A celebration of people and place, the Revd Ian Hill shared the history and heritage of St Mary’s, while the church and wider community came together to raise and recognise those confirmed on this special occasion.

On Sunday 31 August, Bishop Saju led a joyous baptism and confirmation service at St Edward King & Martyr Church in Castle Donnington.
That same day, Ren, Rio, Christine, Kelly, Kristine, Sarah and Brian were also confirmed at St Peter’s Church in Glenfield by Bishop Rob, sharing their testimonies among a congregation of church, family and friends.

Finally, at the beginning of September, Adrian was confirmed by Bishop Saju during a moving service at St Peter’s Church in Oadby.
Surrounded by supporters, Adrian shared his testimony, detailing his journey in faith. Following the service, he said: “I now have a peace that is rooted in my core.”
