A memorial service for the Honourable Lady Ann Brooks was held at St Peter’s Church, Church Langton, on Wednesday, following a private family funeral at St Wistan’s Church, Wistow, in June.
Bishop Martyn led the prayers and said the blessing during the service, which was very well attended.
Lady Brooks made a considerable contribution to the charitable sector in the diocese, chairing a number of charities including the Sir Andrew Martin Trust.
Ann was a devoted Christian serving as Churchwarden at Wistow, a Lay Canon of the Cathedral and as Diocesan President of the Mothers Union.
Ann was also a regular pilgrim to Walsingham and a loyal and committed support to her husband, Sir Timothy Brooks, during his tenure as Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire.
The Vicar of Wistow, Fr. Philip O'Reilly, said: “Ann Brooks was a remarkable person who exemplified the everyday discipleship that, as a diocese, we long to see in the lives of all the members of the Church.
“Ann let her faith shine through in her daily life and made a positive difference to the lives of many people in our county and beyond. May she rest in peace.”
