New Pioneer Priest in Charge licensed in Braunstone

St Peter’s, Braunstone, has a new minister, Nigel Rostock who has been licensed as vicar and Pioneer Priest by Bishop Martyn.

Nigel, who moves from St Deny's, Evington, where he was curate is also European President of God’s Squad, a Christian backpatch motorcycle club which exists to share the Christian faith with other bikers, particularly those from various backpatch clubs. Nigel himself rides a Harley Davidson Dyna, and a number of rather “meaty looking” bikes were parked outside the church on the evening of his licensing!

Sharing the gospel with those who aren’t Christians is central to Nigel’s sense of calling, and he is looking forward to having faith conversations in Braunstone with anyone who wants to talk and to equipping and working with the congregation to do the same. Nigel, who is keen to get to know local community groups, said  ‘I have seen God move miraculously over recent years, experienced a God who is not static, who has intervened more times than I can remember. I have seen the way Christ has been able to transform lives, to heal in seemingly hopeless situations, to lead in the direction he would have us go. I am excited to see where God will lead us in Braunstone, to be part of his will, to experience the reality of his Spirit, empowering and enabling, to take Jesus to the fringes, and to see the reality of a God who intervenes in tangible ways.’
