A new Rural Mission Hub is being developed at Launde Abbey, in partnership with Rural Ministries, to support and educate those in rural ministry across the Diocese of Leicester, the East Midlands and East Anglia.
The initiative has been created to inspire, empower and support denominations, churches, pioneers and those who are called to live in rural communities.
Each Rural Mission Hub gathering will be led jointly by the Launde Abbey and Rural Ministries teams and is made possible by funding from Rural Ministries.
Having run a successful pilot event last year, Rural Mission Hub wants to reach out to those in rural ministry across the diocese.
Revd Alison Myers, Warden of Launde Abbey, said: “Drawing on our collective experience, we hope to become a place to meet for those involved in rural pioneering – lay, ordained, pioneer or not - across the East Midlands and into East Anglia, encouraging mutual learning, shared wisdom and companionship.”
The partnership is beginning by offering three retreat days a year, at a special price of £10 per person, including lunch and refreshments. It will be run jointly by members of the Launde Abbey Community and the Rural Ministries team.
The next of these gatherings is on 26 April - a retreat day themed ‘Finding a Way in the Wilderness’ - and will include led reflection and time for personal prayer, as well as conversation, mutual learning, shared wisdom and companionship with others in rural pioneering ministry.
