A 'Prayer for Peace in Ukraine' Vigil was held at Leicester Cathedral last Monday (24 February 2025) to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion and war against Ukraine.
More than 250 people attended the vigil, which brought together Leicester’s Ukrainian communities and many others in the diocese who stand in solidarity with them.
Bishop Martyn was in attendance, giving the blessing at the end of the vigil, as were all the Cathedral Clergy. The event was featured live on BBC East Midlands Today.
A spokesperson on behalf of the Leicester Ukrainian community offered thanks to the Cathedral for hosting the commemoration and said: “It was a wonderful event and brought us all together in the hope of peace for Ukraine.”
