Stepping out into the community and getting to know his parishioners and the patch, the Revd Dr Vijay Kumar, Pioneer Priest in the parish of the Resurrection, recently led a ‘deeply moving and spirit-filled’ prayer walk in the Belgrave area of the diocese.
Vijay was joined by around 25 ‘prayer warriors’, including Bishop Saju, to walk the streets proclaiming God’s blessings and praying for the peace and flourishing of this vibrant community.
The Resurrection is the largest parish in the diocese with a culturally and socially diverse population of around 48,000 people. The parish boundaries encompass Belgrave, Catherine Street, Saint Mark's and Saint Matthews estates in the north of Leicester.
“This was not just a walk—it was a step of faith, declaring hope and love for everyone in our parish and beyond,” said Vijay.
“Thank you to everyone who joined, prayed, and supported this initiative. Let us continue to pray and work together God’s mission.”
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” (Colossians 3:15)
