Prayers for Ordinations 2025

Everyone is warmly invited to attend the services of ordination taking place in Leicester Cathedral this Petertide.

This year's ordinations will take place over three services on Saturday 28 June at 4pm in Leicester Cathedral for the ordination of priests, on Sunday 29 June at 10.30am in Leicester Cathedral for the ordination of deacons, and a second deaconing service in Leicester Cathedral on Monday 30 June at 7pm.

Please pray for all those to be ordained, and especially those to be ordained in the Diocese of Leicester this Petertide; for their families, friends and all those who will support them; and for the communities where they will serve their curacy, for their training incumbents and context supervisors.

Pray too for Bishop Saju, who will be ordaining on Saturday and Sunday, for Bishop Luke Irving-Capel, the Bishop of Richborough, who will be ordaining on Monday, and for Bishop Martyn as he preaches at all three services.
Pray also for more vocations to all kinds of ministry as we are Shaped By God Together.

There is an open invitation to the College of Priests to attend in person this year. If you would like to attend, robe (cassock & surplice, together with a white stole) and process, please email Head Verger, Bev Collett, on Bev.Collett@LeicesterCofE.org

A prayer card is available here to aid the whole diocese to pray for all of those who are going to be ordained, whether they are based in your parishes or not.

God our Father, Lord of all the world,
through your Son you have called us
into the fellowship of your universal Church:
hear our prayer for all your faithful people
that in their vocation and ministry
each may be an instrument of your love,
and give to your servants soon to be ordained
the needful gifts of grace;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Amen
