A film and podcast sharing the stories of disabled Christians are now available to watch and listen to online through St Paul’s Cathedral.
The resources are based on the book, At The Gates: Disability, Justice and the Churches, by Dr Naomi Lawson-Jacobs and Emily Richardson, who are calling for churches to move from a care-based approach to disability, to one that is focused on justice, equality and access to churches for disabled Christians.
Feedback from viewers, includes:
“...It’s so rare to hear the voices of disabled people in public spaces, and it's utterly liberating when these experiences are shared and broadcast publicly to a wider audience – any of us could become disabled and virtually all of us knows someone who is.”
“I loved learning about both Emily's and Naomi's experiences with disabling church in addition to the comments from the storytellers. I thought the signs of hope important to hear about, too.”
“I thought it was excellent and straight afterwards bought the book...”
