The licensing of Revd Richard Trethewey as Assistant Archdeacon was held during Morning Prayer at Bishop’s Lodge on Thursday, January 5.
Revd Richard was presented to Bishop Martyn by The Venerable Claire Wood, Archdeacon of Loughborough, and The Venerable Richard Worsfold, Archdeacon of Leicester.
During the commissioning the newly appointed Archdeacon Richard made a declaration from Isaiah 61.1-2, saying: “The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
Congregation members celebrating and supporting Richard’s licensing included those from the Bishop’s Leadership Team, alongside Richard’s friends in Christ.
