The Licensing of a Lead Chaplain for Loughborough University

It's a new year and a new role for The Revd Elizabeth York who was licensed as Lead Chaplain of Loughborough University during morning prayer at Bishops Lodge on Tuesday (9 January).

Revd Elizabeth was joined by university colleagues, diocesan clergy, family and friends, including The Venerable Claire Wood, Archdeacon of Loughborough, who presented her to Bishop Martyn for licensing.

A fitting appointment, Revd Elizabeth has experience of working within education, and was Chaplain to the Loughborough Schools Foundation, before moving to the university earlier this month.

Revd Elizabeth said: “I am excited to have joined Loughborough University and look forward to working collaboratively with the multi-faith chaplains, other colleagues, and students, to develop spiritual and pastoral care across both our Loughborough and London campuses.”

When asked how our churches can support people at university in Loughborough, she added: “Please pray for students as they return to University for exams and continue their studies, and for all those whose work is concerned with building relationships and networks between different groups, that we might learn to live well together.”
