Twenty people set out on a lovely warm sunny March morning for Walking Church. The winter mud had all but dried up, so after listening to the words of the Sunday gospel and having prayed together in the village car park, the group ventured out across the fields. For most of the winter months the Walking Church routes had been confined to the pavements and footpaths.
As they walked, the conversation flowed and new friendships were formed. The conversations continued afterwards at The Toast Office, the local coffee shop. As the photograph shows, this most recent event attracted a record number of 20 people. The Walking Church started 9 months ago with just 8 people taking part.
The Vicar, Fr Philip O’Reilly commented: “The Walking Church is proving to be an easy-access outreach event to which church members feel confident to invite friends and neighbours. Fruit is already being produced in terms of greater involvement in the life of the Church. One person has become more frequent in their attendance at the Sunday Eucharist and another has become a mid-week communicant”.
