Watch 'After the Flood' Film For Free During October

As part of Black History month (which runs throughout October), the national church is offering our worshipping communities free access to watch After the Flood - a documentary made by the Movement for Justice and Reconciliation about the Church, slavery and reconciliation.
This important featurette explores how the 18th century Church became embroiled in chattel slavery, how it justified this involvement and the lasting impact it has had.
It aims to be educational and redemptive, addressing the historical neglect of slavery in British Christian History, and looking at biblical principles for racial reconciliation in our churches today.
The film was first screened in the diocese last year, as part of the Global Voices series led by our Intercultural Worshipping Communities Team and Leicester Cathedral.  
Jessie Tang, diocesan Intercultural Ministry Director, said: “It’s wonderful that this resource has been made available for free during Black History Month, and we hope that our worshipping communities and individuals alike will use this opportunity to watch the film or host a screening in their communities.
“As a diocese, we are growing in upholding racial justice and equity, so knowledge of our history and its repercussions is very important.”
