Young Adults’ Pilgrimage to Taizé

Taizé is an ecumenical Christian community in Southern France which produces the beautiful contemplative worship music familiar to many. Its mission is to reach young people throughout the world.

The Diocese of Leicester and the Diocese of Lincoln have come together to offer an East Midlands Pilgrimage to Taizé for young adults aged 18-35, which will take place from August 1-9 this year.

Participating in a pilgrimage to Taizé is time set aside to search for communion with God through community, prayer, song, silence, personal reflection and sharing.

If you are interested in spending a week camping with a global and monastic community, we will be making this pilgrimage together, travelling and camping as a group from the dioceses.

Bishop Saju will be journeying alongside the group for part of the week. Talking about the pilgrimage, he said:

“I am delighted to confirm that I will be joining the East Midlands Taizé pilgrimage and will be at Taizé from Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 August 2026.

“I have long appreciated the music and prayer of Taizé from afar, and have often wondered what it would be like to worship in person with the community.

“I am really looking forward to this opportunity to join with others from Leicester and across the East Midlands to share in worship, prayer, and fellowship at Taizé.

“It will be wonderful to see you there and to experience together the gift of Taizé’s contemplative rhythm and global community.”

The trip will cost approximately £350, and though priority will be given to 18-35s, it is also open to over 35 year-olds.
