The independent review by Keith Makin into the Church of England’s handling of allegations of serious abuse by the late John Smyth has been published.
Safeguarding Sunday (17 November 2024) is an opportunity for congregations to use their regular Sunday service to listen and talk about how spaces can be created that are safer for everyone, and to celebrate all the good work that is being done by so many behind the scenes.

Local charity SoundCafe has celebrated 10 years of supporting people in Leicester who have experienced homelessness or are vulnerable due to their housing situation. To mark the occasion a concert was held at St. Mary de Castro featuring the SoundCafe choir and poetry contributions from SoundCafe guests.
Christians from the Diocese of Leicester were recently involved in an act of solidarity to offer support and loving service to asylum seekers living in their local community.
‘Reclaiming Narratives’ emphasises the importance of acknowledging people's identity in Christ and in their culture, as well as recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture.
This month marks 50 years since Leicester Cathedral Girls' Choir was established, becoming the first Church of England cathedral to establish a separate girl' top line.
On Saturday 7 September, around 100 people came together at Launde Abbey in the diocese for an outdoor worship gathering, organised by the OWL Network (Outdoor Worship Leicestershire) and Peterborough Outdoor Worship.
