28th June 2021As the world tentatively opens up, we made a covid-safe call in on St Mary Magdalen Church in Knighton, to see where God was at work… Set against the backdrop of St Mary's Church and in the warmth of God's creation on this particularly sunny Wednesday morning, a group of locals have come together in faith, fellowship and the love of French pastries.
St Botolph's Library supporting local people's Everyday Faith
11th June 2021A church in Shepshed has seen a project to create a community library in its building finally come to fruition, after more than 18 months in the making. A team of like-minded church members and an ordinand helped bring the library to life at St Botolph's Church, with the support and inspiration from the wider community in the Charnwood town.

Pilgrim Walks in the Upper Wreake
7th June 2021Members of the community across the Upper Wreake Benefice recently enjoyed a prayerful week of pilgrim walks, taking in the beautiful, rural landscape and reflecting on where God was at work in their villages and the wider diocese. The four walks each covered between two and five miles and took place among the parishes of Frisby, Hoby, Rotherby, Ragdale, Kirby Bellars and Brooksby.
Bishop's urgent appeal for Covid-19 aid in Leicester's Indian link diocese
4th June 2021Bishop Martyn is asking for urgent financial support for our partners in India. We are hoping to help them purchase a new ambulance, oxygen concentrators, a ventilator and other equipment costing a total of £80,000.
Innovative Appointment of Executive Diocesan Director of Education (DDE) for Leicester and Derby Dioceses
24th May 2021Our Diocesan Director of Education, Canon Carolyn Lewis has been asked by the Rt Rev Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby to lead the work of Derby's Diocesan Board of Education for an interim period. Carolyn will undertake this role in addition to her role in our diocese and so become one of the first Executive Diocesan Directors of Education (DDE) in the Church of England. This is a pioneering step for both Leicester and Derby's education teams.

Well-loved statue moves into re-opened St Martins House
17th May 2021This morning (17 May) saw not only the re-opening of the diocesan offices in St Martins House, but also the relocation to it of the much-loved "Statue of the Welcoming Christ" from Launde Abbey, the diocesan Retreat House, and the opening of Cafe No 7 (formerly the White Rose café), which is open to the public and located in St Martins House, next to the Cathedral.
