We are delighted to report that the 2024 Petertide Ordinations in the Diocese of Leicester took place over the weekend in two joyful services at Leicester Cathedral.
Seeing prayer as a conversation with God and preferring silent prayer in a calm environment to praying out loud or using apps were among the key findings of this term’s listening exercise on the theme of prayer, which involved nearly 150 children and young people, aged 6 to 17.
Following a discernment morning in January, members of Diocesan Synod, Diocesan Trustees, Bishop’s Children and Youth Council, Bishop’s Council, Area Deans, Lay Chairs and the Bishop’s Leadership Team met on Wednesday 19 June to review the draft diocesan strategy, in advance of it coming to Diocesan Synod in September.
A service of thanksgiving was held during choral evensong at Leicester Cathedral to mark the work of all those who serve as safeguarding coordinators in the Diocese of Leicester.
The licensing of The Revd Paul Betts as Interim Bishop’s Chaplain recently took place during morning prayer in the Chapel at Bishop’s Lodge.

Our bishops took time to meet and worship with many people around the diocese during the past few months, baptising and confirming a number of candidates on their journeys.
On Saturday 18 May, 11 new Associate Ministers were licensed at the annual Called Together service - a celebration and licensing of lay ministers from across the diocese, including Pastoral Assistants, Pioneers and Evangelists.
Eating pizza and pondering the important questions of life, faith, relationships and culture, were high on the agenda when the Young Adults group from the Church of the Martyrs in Leicester invited Bishop Martyn along to one of their gatherings recently.
Our Bishops have been out and about in the diocese this Eastertide, leading services of confirmation, and sharing in the journeys of those taking their first steps in faith.
