Last weekend more than 30 people who are involved in the leadership of our diocesan Intercultural Worshipping Communities (IWCs) gathered at Launde Abbey to worship, pray and learn from one another.
The residential was collaboratively led and included sessions facilitated by young people, Bible readings in Yoruba, and multi-lingual sung worship. They also made sure to eat together, sharing food from each other’s cultures.
The IWC project is an externally funded project that’s seeking to change the culture of our diocese to become more intercultural, and more racially equitable.
Some of the funding goes towards helping the 20 churches that are part of the project, as they seek to become more intercultural, while some of it goes towards sharing that learning across the wider diocese for everybody, through things such as the Global Carol Service or Anti-Racism Training.
Please do pray for the project team and the leaders of the five IWCs as they continue on this journey.
These communities are: Roots, Church of the Martyrs Leicester, All Saints with Holy Trinity Loughborough, Hope Hamilton, and St Pauls, Oadby.
