A sustainable travel toolkit is today (17 May 2021) being made available as part of our support for local churches and worshipping communities in developing our shared environmental commitment as a diocese.
This toolkit provides practical ideas and suggested actions for encouraging more sustainable travel choices, including ways of promoting cycling, walking, public transport and car sharing schemes. It also includes a travel decision tree to help guide the order in which travel choices might be made.
The toolkit has been developed with the help of a Leicester-based social enterprise, Go-Travel Solutions. Go-Travel has also developed resources to support diocesan staff in finding more life affirming ways of managing workplace travel.
In order to enable best use of this toolkit, we will be offering two workshops to provide further ideas and support support to local churches which will be facilitated by Go-Travel. Further details about these will be circulated in the next week or so on our weekly e-newsletter Diomail (if you don't already receive it you can subscribe to Diomail by clicking here).
These sustainable travel initiatives reflect our diocesan priority of becoming an Eco Diocese and encouraging the number of Eco Churches and the growth of eco communities at a parish level. For more details about our emerging vision in this area please go to the Resources section of our Eco Diocese webpage which you can find by clicking here.
