We are delighted to be able to share a round-up of confirmations which took place within our worshipping communities during the month of October, and the few weeks either side.
As the bishops have travelled the length and breadth of the diocese, meeting people and sharing in their faith journeys, it has been encouraging to hear the stories of those coming to faith, from all walks of life - many of whom found themselves called into a relationship with God, having never been to church before.
At the end of September, Holy Trinity Leicester were reminded of God’s faithfulness as they welcomed Bishop Saju, who led the word and confirmed a number of people into their church family.
On October 12, Bishop Martyn joined the congregation of St Catherine’s Church in the parish of Burbage with Aston Flamville, for a service of baptism and confirmation.
Surrounded by church, friends and family, those making their commitment to God included Danielle, Adam, Julie, Tracy and Alex.
You can read their testimonies here.
'God has called you by name and made you his own'
On Sunday, 19 October, Bishop Saju visited the parish church of St Michael & All Angels in Thurmaston to confirm Josh and Shirley during a service of Holy Communion.
A wonderful occasion, Bishop Saju presided and preached, which was enjoyed by the congregation.
That same day, Bishop Saju spent the afternoon at All Saints Church Belgrave in Leicester, for the joyful baptism and confirmation of seven candidates, young and old across the generations.
On Sunday 26 October, eight people were confirmed during a celebratory service at St Mary’s Church in Melton Mowbray.
Bishop Saju was delighted to confirm Sandra, Adele, Richard, John and Christopher from the Melton Team Parish; Scott and Olivia from St Mary the Virgin, Bottesford and Dave from St Mary's Church in Queniborough.
Earlier this month, on 2 November, Bishop Rob confirmed three people, including Rubita and Janet at St Paul’s Church in Oadby.
You can read Rubita’s faith journey here.
Please pray for all those who have recently been baptised and confirmed in the diocese.
