Stand for Synod

New members are being elected to General Synod this year – and you are invited to stand as a candidate.  General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England. It shapes and approves laws that affect the whole of the Church of England. It agrees new forms of worship, debates matters of national and international importance, and approves the annual budget for the work of the Church at national level.

Anchored in Faith, Called to Serve

A service of welcome and commitment to shared ministry, for the Revd Fr Herbert Fadriquela as Vicar of the Parish of St Aidan New Parks, Braunstone Frith and Kirby Frith, was held at St Aidan’s Church recently.   Fr Herbert’s Collation and Induction was conducted by the Lord Bishop of Leicester, The Rt Revd Martyn Snow, accompanied by the Bishop of Richborough, The Rt Revd Luke Irvine-Capel. Currently Anglican Chaplain to the Filipino Community in Leicester, Fr Herbert will continue this role alongside his appointment as Vicar in the Benefice.

St Philip’s Centre Celebrates 20 Years of Interfaith Engagement

St Philip’s Centre turned 20 in June and marked the anniversary with a series of events celebrating two decades of supporting interfaith engagement and community dialogue. Founded in 2006, the Centre has grown into a place where people from different faith and belief backgrounds can meet, learn from one another, and build understanding to live well together.

All Saints School’s Lunchtime to Shine

The children at All Saints Church of England Primary School in Coalville recently enjoyed a visit from Bishop Saju who stopped by to join their lunchtime club, ‘Shine Squad’, which meets weekly to learn about faith in a fun and interactive environment.

Lay Workers Licensed Ahead of Ordinations

Four of our soon-to-be ordained Deacons were licensed as Lay Workers by Bishop Martyn on Wednesday 1 July during a morning service in the Chapel at Bishop’s Lodge.
