A meeting of the new Diocesan Synod took place on Tuesday 3 September in the Grand Hall at St Martins House.
The fourth issue of the Oxford Journal for Intercultural Mission, which includes an article by Bishop Martyn on ‘Waking Up To And Addressing Whiteness In The Anglican Church’, is now available to download.

During the last few months our Bishops have been busy baptising and confirming candidates the diocese wide. In June and July, many of our worshipping communities welcomed and witnessed members of their church families taking the next step on their faith journeys.
Up and down the diocese our worshipping communities are running holiday play schemes, cafés, craft events and camps, making vital connections between church and children and offering loving service to the community.
As lead bishop for the Church of England’s Living in Love and Faith (LLF) process, Bishop Martyn opened the debate at General Synod regarding the outlined proposals for the wider use of prayers asking for God’s blessing for same-sex couples in church services.
The Very Revd Karen Rooms, Dean of Leicester, and the Rt Revd Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester, are delighted to announce that the Revd Dr Sarah Siddique Gill, currently Vicar of the United Benefice of St. Stephen with St. James, Blackburn and Assistant Archdeacon in the Diocese of Blackburn, has been appointed as the new Canon Missioner for Leicester Cathedral.
We are delighted to report that the 2024 Petertide Ordinations in the Diocese of Leicester took place over the weekend in two joyful services at Leicester Cathedral.
Seeing prayer as a conversation with God and preferring silent prayer in a calm environment to praying out loud or using apps were among the key findings of this term’s listening exercise on the theme of prayer, which involved nearly 150 children and young people, aged 6 to 17.
Following a discernment morning in January, members of Diocesan Synod, Diocesan Trustees, Bishop’s Children and Youth Council, Bishop’s Council, Area Deans, Lay Chairs and the Bishop’s Leadership Team met on Wednesday 19 June to review the draft diocesan strategy, in advance of it coming to Diocesan Synod in September.
