A Eucharist to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women as Priests in the Church of England took place in Leicester Cathedral on the afternoon of Sunday 8 September.
The Very Revd Karen Rooms, Dean of Leicester, and the Rt Revd Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester, are delighted to announce that the Revd Dr Sarah Siddique Gill, currently Vicar of the United Benefice of St. Stephen with St. James, Blackburn and Assistant Archdeacon in the Diocese of Blackburn, has been appointed as the new Canon Missioner for Leicester Cathedral.
We are delighted to report that the 2024 Petertide Ordinations in the Diocese of Leicester took place over the weekend in two joyful services at Leicester Cathedral.
On Sunday 16 June, members of the Royal Tigers’ Association and the Royal Anglian Regiment celebrated their final annual service at Leicester Cathedral, with their Regimental Standard being presented to the Dean for “eternal safekeeping” in the Cathedral and two plaques in memory of two former Commanding Officers of the Regiment being dedicated.
A service of thanksgiving was held during choral evensong at Leicester Cathedral to mark the work of all those who serve as safeguarding coordinators in the Diocese of Leicester.

On Saturday 18 May, 11 new Associate Ministers were licensed at the annual Called Together service - a celebration and licensing of lay ministers from across the diocese, including Pastoral Assistants, Pioneers and Evangelists.
On Saturday 9 March, the Very Revd Canon Rooms was installed by Bishop Martyn as the new Dean of Leicester.
The Revd Julia Bradshaw was licenced as Anglican Chaplain at HMP Gartree.
Seven women were commissioned by Bishop Martyn at a service at Leicester Cathedral on Sunday 28 January to serve as the Diocese’s Women’s Ministry Group.
