In an opinion piece, written for the Church Times, Bishop Martyn says the patron saint’s day should be used to consider how to foster a healthy kind of patriotism.
The Archbishop of Canterbury will visit dioceses and parishes across the Church of England this year to shine a light on where God is at work in local churches and communities.
This Summer term, our listening exercise is exploring the theme of friendship – and we want to hear from as many young voices in the diocese as possible!
The Rollett family will soon be swapping life in the Diocese of Leicester for East Africa, where they will walk alongside local Christians and help them work together to be a loving witness to their neighbours of other faiths.
Primary-aged children from schools across the diocese came together to celebrate creative eco action and caring for God’s planet in the Leicester Diocesan Board of Education’s first ever Eco Schools Extravaganza.
Around 120 people from organisations across the city gathered at Leicester Cathedral to mark one year since the launch of the Intercultural City project, to hear about the successes so far, and to make pledges for the future.
The Promoting Unity in our Nation group, chaired by Bishop Martyn, want to hear from church leaders in the Diocese of Leicester about whether political and social polarisation is having an effect in your communities and, if so, what resources you would find useful.
As part of an ongoing provision of support, the Archdeacons of Leicester and Loughborough warmly invite PCCs and Trustees to come together for a training morning. The mornings are designed to help whole PCCs and clergy in understanding, managing, and fulfilling their responsibilities as trustees.

A small team from the Diocese of Leicester recently travelled to our Link Diocese of Trichy‑Tanjore in the Church of South India (CSI) to strengthen long-standing partnerships, share ministry expertise, and deepen intercultural connections. The visit - our first since the Covid pandemic - was Intercultural and Intergenerational Ministry in action, a reconnecting of communities, with the group returning to Leicester feeling spiritually inspired and energised.
