Across the diocese, our churches and schools have been holding services and taking part in civic and community events to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Sophie will be commissioned to her new role at Diocesan Synod on Saturday 23 November 2024 and will begin work on Friday 6 December 2024.
Safeguarding Sunday (17 November 2024) is an opportunity for congregations to use their regular Sunday service to listen and talk about how spaces can be created that are safer for everyone, and to celebrate all the good work that is being done by so many behind the scenes.
The results of the latest Bishops’ Children and Youth Council listening report are in with 227 young people from primary and secondary schools and church groups around the diocese offering their thoughts and feelings on the subject of Climate Change.
The bells rang out and the sun made an appearance, as the Revd Barry Hill was ordained and consecrated as the Suffragan Bishop of Whitby in a Eucharistic service at York Minster on Thursday (10 October).

A memorial service for the Honourable Lady Ann Brooks was held at St Peter’s Church, Church Langton on Wednesday (18 September), following a private family funeral at St Wistan’s Church, Wistow, in June.
A Eucharist to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women as Priests in the Church of England took place in Leicester Cathedral on the afternoon of Sunday 8 September.
A meeting of the new Diocesan Synod took place on Tuesday 3 September in the Grand Hall at St Martins House.
