The Revd Canon John Barr

The Bishop is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Canon John Barr, Rector of the Benefice of the Ironstone Villages Family of Churches, also as Area Dean of Framland. John will initially be taking on this role for one year.


The Revd Andrew (Andy) Rhoades

The Bishop is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Andy Rhoades, currently with Permission to Officiate, also as Area Dean of Guthlaxton, for two days a week and for an initial period of twelve months.


The Revd Eustace Smith

The Bishop announces the death of The Revd Eustace Smith, aged 100. Eustace was ordained in 1946 and served curacies in the dioceses of Exeter and Southwell and Nottingham. Eustace was Vicar at Buckminster with Sewstern, in this diocese, from 1959 – 1982 before moving to Lincoln. He retired in 1989 and held the Bishop's Permission to Officiate in Leicester from 1989 – 2000.


The Revd Gillian Deave

The Bishop announces the death of The Revd Gillian Deave, aged 89, on Saturday 30th January 2021. Gillian served as a Reader before being licensed as a Deaconess in 1982. She served at St Peter's, Nottingham until 1991 and then as Chaplain to Nottingham City Hospital from 1991-1996. In May 1994, Gillian was ordained in Southwell and Nottingham, becoming one of the first women to be ordained priest. She had held PTO in the Diocese of Leicester since 1994


The Revd Joanne Dyer

The Bishop announces that The Revd Joanne Dyer, Curate in The Woodfield Team (currently providing interim ministry in the Benefice of Whitwick, Thringstone and Swannington), has been appointed as Rector of All Souls North Warwickshire, in the Diocese of Birmingham.


The Revd Canon Brian Davis

The Bishop announces that The Revd Canon Brian Davis, Priest in Charge in the Benefice of Gaulby, will be retiring with effect from Sunday 4th April 2021.


The Revd Stuart Foster

The Bishop announces that The Revd Stuart Foster, Chaplain of Belvoir Castle, has retired and relinquished his PTO with effect from 15th December 2020. Following Stuart's retirement, The Revd Simon Shouler will be Acting Chaplain to Belvoir Castle.


The Revd John Dawson

The Bishop announces that The Revd John Dawson, Chaplain at East Midlands Airport, is resigning with effect from 10th February 2021.


Philip Millward

The Bishop is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Millward as Leicester Grammar School Lay Chaplain and Youth Worker. Philip will be licensed by the Bishop of Leicester, The Rt Revd Martyn Snow, via Zoom on Friday 29th January at 8.30am.


The Very Revd Alan Christopher Warren

The Bishop announces the death of The Very Revd Alan Warren, aged 88, on 22nd December 2020. Alan was Vicar of Holy Apostles, Leicester from 1964-1972 and then served as Provost of Leicester Cathedral from 1978 until he retired in 1992.
