As the year draws to a close, and we get ready to celebrate the birth of Christ, the final baptisms and confirmations of 2024 have taken place in the diocese.
Throughout Advent, churches all around the diocese have been sharing the Christmas story and blessing their communities in many creative and inspiring ways.
The Bishops' Christmas Message reminds us that Christ came for all people. The video features Christmas wishes in many languages, thanks to the community of Hope Hamilton Church of England Primary School.
The St Philip’s Centre’s ‘Religion & Belief Roadshow’ rolled into Fleckney Church of England Primary School recently, inviting the children to learn about a range of faiths and cultures in a fun and interactive way.
The service was an uplifting celebration of our diocese’s diverse intercultural communities, perfectly melded in a rich offering of music, dance, prayer and worship.
As the shape of ministry changes across our diocese, many people are feeling called to offer spiritual leadership in their local church. Focal Ministry is the name being given to this emerging shape of ministry.
Advent and Christmas are times when the Everyday Faith in our churches and worshipping communities can become particularly visible as we extend invitations to special events and services. As well as these wonderful church activities, how might you personally explore Everyday Faith in Advent?
We are currently working towards a visit to our partner diocese in Tanzania in 2025. Would you like to be part of this link diocese learning exchange trip?
While deeply saddened that Justin Welby’s time as Archbishop of Canterbury should end in this way, I am also mindful that our words about putting victims and survivors of abuse first have to be more than rhetoric.
Around 175 people from across the diocese came together on 28 November for a day of learning and conversation centred around the question: ‘How are we Growing Faith at the intersection of school and church?’
